I’m Donna Bird Salisbury, a resident of Clay, West Virginia, and a proven leader in business and community service. I studied at West Virginia Wesleyan College, West Virginia Technical College, and West Virginia State College, and over the years, I’ve built a diverse career across industries and public-facing roles. I was the first woman to own a salvage yard in West Virginia and led our local industry’s modernization by implementing the first computerized inventory system and creating the state’s first online salvage inventory—improvements that boosted efficiency, customer access, and set a standard for others.

I’ve been a grant writer since 1993 and have secured and administered more than $864,000 for local programs, infrastructure projects, and services that benefit Clay County residents. I helped found the Clay Family Resource Network and currently serve as its Treasurer; I’m also Vice President of the Clay Lions Club, I serve on the Board of Directors for the Nicholas Community Action Partnership, Inc, and volunteer with Clean Up Clay County and Clay 4H. I’ve served on the Clay Parks and Recreation Board, the Clay Solid Waste Authority, and as Secretary of Clay County Services Unlimited Inc.

Professionally, I’ve worked as an Accounting Supervisor, Public Relations Manager, business owner, Director’s Assistant, Director, and Nursing Assistant, which gives me a practical skill set in finance, communications, and operations. I’m married to Jerry (41 years), mother of three, and grandmother to three grandchildren; my youngest daughter just began her second year in college.

I’m running for County Commissioner to bring experienced, transparent, community-focused leadership—prioritizing responsible budgets, stronger public services, common sense, and support for local businesses and families.

I’m proud to be a Clay County Citizen.  We live in a beautiful place, and it deserves to grow.
